Introduction

The Library of Congress classifies books on Western Civilization like this:

"Here are entered works on the civilization stemming from the Greco-Roman traditions of the Occident, or the region conventionally designated as the West, in contrast to those of Islam, India, or the East." 

This guide presents print and online library resources which cover the many aspects of Western civilization- social, cultural, economic, political, scientific, philosophical, and religious- from the mid-seventeenth century to the present.
