ENG-111: Library Live Lite

Library Live Lite is a collaborative learning community initiative between librarians and an English instructor to develop and facilitate student-centered information literacy activities and assess student learning in one or more ENG-111 class sections during the semester. ENG-111 students meet in the library classroom for five (5) Library Live Lite sessions during the semester.  A librarian facilitates the Library Live Lite sessions. Students complete and submit a deliverable via Canvas by the end of the day for each session. These branded “class within a class” sessions incorporate student learning outcomes based on the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. These same outcomes also closely align with the Council of Writing Program Administrators (WPA) Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing. Unsurprisingly, the redesign of these class sections increased student retention, engagement and success in these key composition courses.
