  Selecting a Topic

Finding Topic Ideas

Topics come from all around - think about what's going on in the news: odds are that you can name a few controversial topics. The trick is to find something that is interesting to YOU - it will make research much easier.

Library Databases - The databases listed below are also good places to start looking for topic ideas:

Books - Check out the following series of books in our library collections for topic ideas. * Review the book titles that come up in your results list to get topic ideas. Review the Details (book chapters/sections) of these book records in your results list to get ideas on how to refine your topic.

*Hint: Enter the series title in the search box then filter your results by checking the box "books and media"

Further help on refining/narrowing a topic is available in our tutorial, Research @ Reynolds Library.
