Research Guides FAQ

Our research guides are created and updated by Reynolds librarians. Our librarians find, evaluate and select the best books, databases and websites that support a specific subject. If you're not sure where to start, use the menu to the left to find quality resources.
Use our guides as a starting point for your research, especially if your instructor has recommended that you use a specific guide.
Our guides can help you get you started, but they are often too general in scope to really help with a specific research question. For example, we have a research guide on hot topics and pro/con issues, but it's up to you to figure out what specific topic you'd like to explore further for an argumentative essay, and you'll need to refine your searches in in order to find relevant resources that address your research questions or thesis statement. So, don't just use the books that we suggest or the links that we provide. Dig deeper. Explore! Get lost even. Research is not about already having the answer, but rather, discovering it!
